Señor Jose Fidel Morales Martinez, mi papa polo.
Ofe
______
My grandfather was a proud man who demanded excellence in completing the simplest of tasks. He always encouraged me to think for myself to know the difference between right and wrong. He was a man of many words, which oftentimes silently passed between us in between rounds of domino, or sitting together as he cut the rose thorns in his jardín. He loved the news, soccer, and most of all, his family.
We shared many memories together during the summers and visits I traveled to Mexico to spend time with him.
My family doesn't come from material wealth but my grandparents and parents encouraged my siblings and I to think for ourselves- to try and live a life that is worthy of being lived twice. Things were not perfect, but education remained a core value as well as the respect for self and others.
Education Excellence is a family journey, one of community and for the betterment of all.
My family has a story to tell, that Education Excellence can be achieved as a reality within a generation when you know enough to seize the opportunities in front of you and have the courage to act in faith. Juntos se Puede.
Generation Excellence, Latino Excellence, Education Excellence.
LATINOS GO TO COLLEGE.
